Most Popular Indoor Christmas Decorations

The most wonderful time of the year is right around the corner, and it won't be long before it's time to adorn our homes with some wonderful Christmas decorations. The unmistakable aroma of the Christmas tree, stringing lights strewn across your fireplace mantel, little models of Santa Claus and other Christmas figures - all adding to the warm glow of festive holiday cheer.

Needless to say, we love it all! And to get everyone in the mood, we are dedicating this blog to some of the most popular Christmas decorations around - maybe something inspire you, whether you're starting up your Christmas decoration collection from scratch, or adding a few new pieces to up your game this festive season!

Natural Christmas Wreath

We'll kick things off with a classic touch - this beautiful and natural Cinnamon Wreath.

Christmas Wreaths are a must-have for this time of year, and we have a huge selection for you to choose from, but we have opted for this spiced version for our list today. And the reason for that is a simple one - we love the smell of Christmas. That evocative combination of cinnamon and dried winter fruits, and once you get the slightest whiff off it, you are immediately taken back to all those happy memories of Christmases past.

So where better to start our run down of popular Christmas decorations than with something that lives on your front door? The entry point, that says to the world that beyond that door is a warm and welcoming home, full of festive cheer.

We make our wreaths from the lush branches that are grown on our Christmas tree farms - freshly cut so they will last throughout the season, and instantly recognisable as completely natural. Have a look through our selection of Wreaths at Christmas Trees Direct, as well of our range of garlands for your home.

LED Christmas Lights

Let's stick with the theme of classic Christmas decorations - no Christmas season is complete without a healthy dose of festive lights. Whether you are putting them on your Christmas tree, around your fireplace mantel, on your stairs or outside your home, Christmas lights are an absolute must!

While we have a range of festive lights for sale, we decided to select these for this blog because we love the cool white colour. They really stand out on Christmas trees, and with 8 different settings, you can get the perfect twinkle for your home!

You can go for as many as 2,000 lights (if you have the space!) but they go up in denominations of 500 - you can get the right amount for your space, without having to hold back. Each light is just 2.2 cm apart, so it's a really nice compact display. A must for any household!

Bauble Collection

If you're going to get some fantastic lights, you're going to need a Christmas tree ornament or two add a bit of festive shimmer to proceedings!

Christmas Baubles are a staple of festive holiday decorations - no tree looks right without them. We've opted for this Candy Cane collection because it combines a classic look with a stylish modern twist. The subtle changes to the detail and shape of the various baubles really adds a certain sophistication to the look, and they are incredibly lightweight, so they won't force the branches on your Christmas tree to droop.

What's more, they come with a reusable carry pack, so you won't need to worry about storage when you put them away until next year. The complete package!

Christmas decorations - FAQs

Where can you buy mini Christmas trees?

Mini Christmas trees are becoming increasingly popular, and are available in many different shops, like garden centres and even some of the larger supermarkets around Christmas time. The most straightforward way, though, is through us - simply select the one you would like and head to the checkout. We'll take care of the rest.

Can you plant a real Christmas tree?

Yes! A pot-grown tree can be moved outside. It's probably best to keep it in a container, but trees can be replanted if the root ball remains in tact. Just dig a hole deeper and wider than the root ball, and tease out the roots before you place the tree in the hole - then replace the soil. See our guides for more information.

How do you decorate a front door for Christmas?

With a Christmas Wreath! There a plenty of options, from a classic green wreath to more adventurous and unique approached. We love a purely natural wreath - and combine them with a Christmas Garland to make a wonderfully inviting festive entrance!

What is a Christmas Garland?

A bit like a Christmas Wreath, a Garland is usually made from pine branches, but rather than being a circular shape, they are stretched out - ideal for filling a bit of space on a wall, or arched around a doorway. They often have other little festive items, such as pine cones, dried fruit or berries.
